Breast Augmentation

Breast enlargement, popularly known as a boob job but technically known as Augmentation Mammaplasty, is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the UK and USA. There are various types of breast implants available to choose from. Prof. Kirwan will discuss which will be best for you during your initial consultation.

Auto Breast Augmentation

Auto Breast Augmentation uses a patient’s existing breast tissue to reshape the breast rather than an implant. This kind of breast reshaping benefits women with adequate existing breast tissue where there has been a dropping or sagging of the breasts, perhaps after breast feeding, weight loss or through the normal ageing process.

Breast Lift

This procedure is not aimed at increasing the size of the breasts, rather it looks to correct breast sagging that often occurs after weight loss or pregnancy. The visible result is a fuller, firmer bust.

Augmentation – Mastopexy (SAMBA)

This kind of breast lift is intended to lift and enlarge the breasts when they have lost their support and the nipple is below the crease under the breast. For this Prof. Kirwan often uses the SAMBA™ procedure. The scar is limited to the area around the areola.

Breast Reduction

For many women large breasts can be a source of physical discomfort or can simply be seen as unsightly. A breast reduction gives them smaller, firmer breasts that can result in improved posture and personal sense of well-being.

Male Breast Reduction

An estimated 40-60% of men suffer from excessive development of the breast gland, known as Gynecomastia. By removing fat, glandular tissue and in extreme cases excess skin, this procedure can result in a chest that is flatter, firmer and better contoured.

Axilla-Plasty

This is a procedure to correct the overhang of fat and skin above the bra at the armpit which limits tops that women can wear. The fat is suctioned and excess skin is removed creating a neat thin line scar hidden in the apex of the axilla. The wound is closed with a knotless absorbable Quill® suture which aids in the healing.

Nipple Reduction

The nipple reduction is performed using Dr. Kirwan’s own technique in which segments of the nipple are removed preserving the sensation.

Inverted Nipple Correction

The nipple invertion is corrected without additional scarring of the areola and the correction is secured with a knotless temporary Quill® suture.
